Fixtures & Referees

The process for detailing fixtures varies by league and managers should refer to the league handbook before the start of the season and familiarise themselves with league procedures.  For example:

  1. Epsom & Ewell league , fixtures are determined by the league and sent to the club secretary (Graham Smith) who will pass them to the manager.  The fixtures are also available on the league web site – yellowjersey.co.uk ;
  2. Guildford and Shere league; fixtures are agreed on a bilateral basis between team managers at a fixture meeting, held at Horsely Football club.  Any changes to these fixtures can be agreed directly between the club managers.  Once the fixture list is finalised a copy must be given to Graham Smith in order that he can determine kick off times;

These procedures are not exhaustive – managers must find out for themselves from either the league or Graham Smith what needs to be done to obtain a full seasons fixtures.

Home Fixtures – Pitches and Kick Off Times

Pitches for home matches, together with the designated kick off times, are allocated by graham Smith.  Any changes to agreed fixtures must be advised to Graham.  For example, if a fixture is cancelled, Graham needs to be told in order that he can cancel the referee and possibly re-arrange another match at that time.

Any friendly matches must also be agreed with Graham, as he made have re-arranged another match at the time you were hoping to use the pitch.

In summary games are changed/re-arranged regularly.  Never assume the pitch will be free – always advise Graham.  Similarly, please tell graham if you cancel or re-arrange a home match.  If in doubt – contact Graham.

Finally, all fixtures must be confirmed with the opposing manager the week before the game.  For the Epsom and Ewell league, Graham Smith does this.  For other leagues, this is the responsibility of the manager who must contact, by email, telephone or post, the opposing manager and agree kick off time and location of the pitch.

Referees

Referees for all 11-a-side matches are organised by Graham Smith.  For 7-a-side matches, it is the responsibility of the manager to appoint a referee, usually using one of the parents.  Make sure the parent has been provided with a copy of the rules, which are available in the respective league handbook.
