Social Events

The club relies heavily on fund raising events to cover its operating costs.  Indeed, if it were not for these events, the club would have ceased to operate some years ago.  In the autumn and spring we usually run a quiz night, which have been successful for many years.  It is very important that Managers encourage the parents to attend these events.  As well as being fun, they are an opportunity for parents to get together on a social basis, and hence improve the overall team spirit.  Manager should diarise these events and then make real efforts to get enough parents to attend.

Presentation Day

At the end of the season the club holds its annual presentation day.  All teams and players are required to attend.  There is a BBQ beforehand, a raffle and often some other events are held, followed by the presentation.  Each team manager presents his squad and the club has three awards:

Most Improved Player of the Year (decided by the manager)

Manager’s Player of the Year (decided by the manager)

Player’s player of the year (decided by the players)

ALL TEAMS MUST ATTEND THIS AS IT IS THE ONE OCCASION THE WHOLE CLUB GETS TOGETHER. THIS MUST TAKE PRIORITY OVER ANY EVENTS INCLUDING TOURNAMENTS.

For this and any other presentations a team representing the club attends, the teams should stay throughout the presentation ceremony and not leave after collecting your medals/trophies. Due respect should be shown to the organisers and other teams present.

Xmas Dinner

The major fund raising event of the year is the annual Xmas dinner.  Again all managers are strongly encouraged to diarise this event and arrange a table of parents from their team.  They should also try and get hold of raffle prizes and encourage other parents to contribute as well.
