5 and 6 year old Boys and Girls Football Training – All Players Welcome at our 2011/2012 Saturday Morning Feeder Group

The Feeder Group runs from 10am to 11am every Saturday at the Oxshott Village Sports Club, under the supervision of professionally qualified coaches. All abilities welcome!

Royals At Crystal Palace’s Football Academy!

One of our U11 teams was invited to go to Crystal Palace’s football academy to play on 28th October. This follows a successful first match 18 months ago. The boys spent the day at the academy which is located at the National Sports Centre. We played inside in the football dome against a group of Palace trialists whose ages ranged from 9 to 13.

In the morning the boys benefitted from coaching from 2 of Palace’s coaching staff as they were mixed in with the Palace boys to play a series of small sided games. Then after lunch we played 4 periods of 20 minutes 9v9 with Palace scoring the equaliser to make it 3-3 in the last couple of minutes. Our boys played superbly and were a great credit to the Club. We had a great day out and both parties are keen to make this an annual event.

Former Oxshott Royals Player Selected for Norway

Henrik Breimyr, who played for Oxshott Royals from the age of 8 to 13 when he was signed up to an academy, has been selected to represent Norway in the UEFA Euro 2012 Under 19 qualifying championships later this month.

Henrik received his first call-up to represent his country towards the latter end of last season when he featured in Norway’s under-18 squad for the Slovakia Cup (he went on to play in all four games, including the final versus Denmark). He saw his talents earn him a two-year pro contract with Aldershot Town.

Manager Dean Holdsworth said, “This is a fantastic accolade for Henrik and the club. He is currently playing first team football week in, week out (on loan at Blue Square Conference South club Eastleigh) and his fitness levels are high which will benefit him. I hope that it is a great experience for him and that there are many more opportunities in the future.”

Oxshott Royals naturally wishes Henrik all the very best.

A Note from Mike Smith, Chairman

I have decided to step down after 5 years as Chairman and, at the AGM, was pleased to make this official safe in the knowledge that we have a great new Committee in place to take the Club forward. Your new Chairman is Roger Beech, previously the Director of Mini Football and the right man to bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm to the post. Roger will make the necessary announcements regarding committee member additions and changes over the next few weeks. Obviously the main priority is registration and kit for the new season so please allow him time to sort out the important matters before this web site is updated.

I am pleased to leave the Club in a position of stability and growth – we will field 30 teams this coming season, outstripping last season’s total of 24. We are now a Charter Standard Club, we have a tie-in and the provision of pitches with Avorians Cricket Club, organised coaching programmes and excellent training facilities at a number of venues.

I intend to work with Roger until Christmas to insure that I pass on and introduce all contacts and business matters to him so insuring a smooth hand over. I am sad to “officially” sever ties with the Royals having been involved for over 20 years, mostly as a Manager and seeing 3 sons proudly wearing the shirt….the oldest being 26 and now playing in my Sunday Oxshott Royals adult side – along with his 2 brothers!

The memories will live on, the tours, the winning (and losing) the friendships, seeing the club grow year after year, I am proud to have been part of a great set up… as I’ve said before -”Once a Royal, always a Royal”…that will NEVER change.
