Oxshott Royals Rebels 4 Windlesham Village 2
Royals’ best performance of the season saw them beat top-of-the-table Windlesham, who would have been crowned league champions had they managed a victory.
Oxshott came out of the stalls at full pelt and Bryant put them ahead after just three minutes when he steered the ball into the net after a goalmouth scramble.
Windlesham equalised, however, just seven minutes later and stunned Royals by taking the lead in the 13th minute.
Oxshott, who never looked like rolling over and accepting defeat, bounced back to level midway through the half, with Bryant again putting the ball past the visitors’ keeper following a scramble in the goalmouth.
Three minutes later Royals took the lead, when El Fadel latched on to a tremendous through ball from Smith and sent a shot goal-bound, before it ricocheted off a Windlesham player and into the net, giving Oxshott a 3-2 lead at half time.
McLoughlin doubled Royals’ advantage 15 minutes into the second period, when he fired a low free kick into the left-hand corner of the net and, despite Windlesham throwing everything they could at Oxshott, from that point the home side never looked like losing their lead.
It was a vintage Oxshott victory, with every player giving 110% and battling for every ball, and should seal Royals a fourth-place finish.
