Oxshott Royals Rebels 6 Woking Town Crusaders 2
Surrey Primary League Junior Cup first round
Oxshott never looked like losing this cup-tie but at times made it difficult for themselves against a plucky opposition.
Royals opened the scoring after just eight minutes, when Brett knocked the ball back for Nicholls to chip the keeper, but despite almost constant pressure and a number of near misses they failed to add to their total before halftime.
The home side doubled their score eight minutes into the second period, however, when McLoughlin played the ball through to Brett, who despatched the ball past the keeper.
Two minutes later Royals had the chance to put the result beyond any doubt when they were awarded a penalty for handball but the Woking keeper, who had a fine game throughout, anticipated the shot well and saved on the line.
Oxshott eventually notched their third in the 56th minute, when Brett fired in from a Tough cross, and a fine solo goal from McLoughlin, who weaved his way through the area before shooting home, made it 4-0 just a few minutes later.
With the wind and the rain beginning to reach storm proportions, Royals scored a fifth just six minutes later, Dunsire playing a neat through ball to McLoughlin, who crossed for Brett to fire the ball home.
Woking were rewarded for their perseverance when they pulled two goals back in the final 14 minutes, either side of McLoughlin’s second for Royals in the 71st minute.
McLoughlin, who played a part in four out of Oxshott’s six goals, was named man of the match.
